This one has been a long time coming. Back in 2008 Breakaway featured on Solarstone’s 2nd album Rain Stars Eternal, then in 2011 Solarstone’s Phuture Mix was released – an addictive techy remix which wormed its way into John Askew’s head and refused to leave his record box for the following 6 – 6!!! years. Despite loving it, John had been threatening to punch Solarstone’s mix square in the face and make something a damn site better for a long time, and finally he got off his lazy arse and delivered with his slamming acidic #140 mix. Huge.

That version is so damn good. Literally adore it. I asked my pal Rich if I could remix it one day and he said yes. This was back when I was a foetus. Well it was a long time ago when I had just started in my old job working for Perfecto Fluoro and kinda looking after Rich’s eclectic band Federation. I loved his version but had an idea of how I could make something a bit more banging / bit more 140 with some old school PVD style plucks. I had the layout and sounds all clear as day in my head. But when I got round to starting it – it just didn’t come out or flow how I’d intended. It wasn’t till I got to version 32……
Would you believe five or six years have passed since the idea of this remix was originally discussed. Absurd. Silly. Not used to working with vocals….but then again that’s no excuse for half a bloody decade!
Anyway – you’re probably more bored listening to this drivel than Rich was waiting for me to deliver. Here it is – the first production I have put out with a proper vocal for at least a decade!
