Talking About Distant Lights… Kyau & Albert

TranceAttack: First of all, congrats for the release of your new artist album “Distant Lights“. What can the listener expect?
Kyau & Albert: Thanks! Our new CD is our fourth studio album. Basically it is a typical Kyau & Albert album, which features 13 tracks, mainly Trance with sub-genres and most of them with vocals.
 
TranceAttack: Over what time period was the album in process?
Kyau & Albert: It took almost 2 years.
 
TranceAttack: Tell, us, how did you approach the making of it and what was your mission & ambition for it?
Kyau & Albert: It is a long process to make an album. The good thing of an album is that you can experiment more with the tracks and show different faces of your music. We already started to compose new songs for this album after we released our last album “Nights Awake” in early 2013. We constantly collected demos and songs for this album, some of them we changed a bit at the end for the album and of course we tested all the DJ-friendly tracks at our gigs. Then in October 2014 we put our favourite tracks together and tried to find the best tracklisting for “Distant Lights“.
 
TranceAttack: What’s the idea behind the album title “Distant Lights”?
Kyau & Albert: We wanted to find an album title which has a positive sense and is also working good for our album tour.
 
TranceAttack: If you had to choose three adjectives to describe the album to someone who’s not heard your work before, what would they be?
Kyau & Albert: Positive. Melodic. Diverse.
 
TranceAttack: “Distant Lights” is fully out now. What kind of early reactions are you picking up through your social media?
Kyau & Albert: The reactions are really great from everywhere, our fans and the press. This makes us very happy. We also got great DJ support by all the top Trance Djs.
 
TranceAttack: What seem to be the fans early favourites?
Kyau & Albert: To be honest the favourites vary a bit who you ask. There are tracks like “One”, “Let The Thunder In”, “The Same” or “Follow The Waves”, which people really love, and of course also the are the singles “Down”, “Relevant Angel”, “Are You One Of Us” and “Calming Rain”.
 
TranceAttack: What are your plans next to your album release for 2015?
Kyau & Albert: We will release one or two more singles from the album in brand new remixes and we already started to work on new material.
 
TranceAttack: The technical evolution of deejay equipment is really impressive. What is your preferred equipment you spin with? Do you prefer CD’s or USB Stick?
Kyau & Albert: We use USB sticks, but still have CDs as backup, just in case our two USB sticks are not working.
 
TranceAttack: What is your opinion on the future of the EDM?
Kyau & Albert: Everything is possible! 😉
