We talked with our guest for the upcoming “Enter The Arena”… Adam Ellis. Enjoy reading about Adam’s music, his backround, plans and more! 😉

TranceAttack: Hey Adam, where do we find you today and what are you up to?
Adam:
Hey! I’m just sat in my studio, working on new music. Nothing really new… 😉

TranceAttack: You’re our guest DJ this month in our radio show “Enter The Arena”. Please tell us a little bit about your part of the mix. What can the listener expect?
Adam:
Just my usual style i guess. Lots of Trance! 🙂

TranceAttack: If you had to describe your sound in three words. Which ones would you choose?
Adam:
Melodic, Uplifting, Diverse

TranceAttack: As many people may not know… You were quite active in the music production before released your first productions and remixes. Why took it so long till your Adam Ellis Release?
Adam:
Because it took me so long to learn how to make my own music. So many people make the mistake of rushing and signing their music with labels that are run by amateurs who will sign anything to their label.

It’s crazy how much bad quality music i get sent by labels. Unfortunately, due to the digital age anyone can start a label now. It means nothing to be signed now days unless it is with an established label. This is due to the quality control that is simply not good enough a lot of the time.

I waited until i had a track good enough to be signed by a solid label. One that is managed by one of the worlds leading Trance DJ’s in Bryan Kearney. My first track changed my life in many ways, so i am happy with this decision… haha.

TranceAttack: What can we expect in the near future from you?
Adam:
Quite simply, more of the same and lots of new! ;0

TranceAttack: How does the modern technique affect your way of producing and playing music? Is there a technical feature you wouldn’t miss anymore?
Adam:
I mean, i got into music producing in 2007 and DJing in 2010 / 2011. I know no other way than the modern way really so i won’t miss anything.

TranceAttack: Which side do you prefer? Behind the decks in the clubs or behind your equipment in the studio?
Adam:
Everyone ask this, but it’s hard to answers as i truly love both. I am a musician and producer first but there is NO better feeling in this earth for me personally than playing my own productions to an educated crowd. You can’t beat that feeling. In general i really love DJing. Im very lucky to be able to perform to people all over the world.

TranceAttack: Is there an artist you would like to work with, and why?
Adam:
There’s so many. Top of my list would be Sean Tyas, Aly & Fila, Giuseppe Ottaviani and JOC. I would like to work with these guys as they are all very diverse and amazing musicians.

TranceAttack: Where do you get your inspiration for new music from?
Adam:
I guess it’s from listening to Trance in general. But really i just sit in front of my Mac and make the music. Good music inspires me. No particular genre, just good music and people who have worked hard to get to where they are at.

TranceAttack: When it comes to actual music, what is your favorite track at the moment and why?
Adam:
At the minute i would say Massive Attack “Unfinished Symphony”. This is a work of art and makes me smile ear to ear. Unreal piece of music.

TranceAttack: As one of the rare breed of producers who works without the help of engineers or ghost writers, what do you think about the started discussion by Mat Zo about ghost producers?
Adam:
I don’t get involved in all that anymore and to be honest, i don’t even know what he said on that matter. I’ve had my day with all the ghost producing stuff. There are too many different uses of ghost producing / engineers and too many different aspects of who is involved and who has done what. It‘s unfair to tar everyone with the same brush. Im just concentrating on my own music and letting everyone else worry about that stuff.

TranceAttack: What is your opinion on the future of the EDM?
Adam:
I think it will die out in the next few years. It has no soul what so ever. None of the records are memorable in my opinion (just my opinion). All it is, is build up and ‘insert EDM drop’. The only silver lining is if it gets kids into music and they become educated and tune into a more mature sound that they can ultimately develop a passion for. If it does that, then at least it‘s doing something good.

TranceAttack: Do you have any advice to the young people thinking about becoming a professional DJ? Would you start such a career these days?
Adam:
Like it or not, production, production, production. This is how you get booked as a DJ. Take your time to learn the craft of music production. You can watch tutorials, read books and learn by lots and lots of trial and error. It takes years of time, dedication and money. It‘s not for everyone so i guess it depends how badly you want it. Even if you pay your way to getting noticed, most people won‘t be able to continue with this route financially to keep their name on the tips of everyone’s tongues. Learn yourself and you will reap the rewards of creating something by yourself. Do it well and you have the chance to make people happy with that creation. As i say, for me there is nothing better than playing your own music and seeing people having fun and dancing to it.

TranceAttack: What would surprise our readers? Tell us something uncommon about you?
Adam:
I hate cheese, oddly apart from on a pizza!

TranceAttack: Do you have a message for your fans?
Adam:
Just a huge thank you for the continued support. If my career ended tomorrow i would be more than proud of what i have achieved. That is down to the fans for following me. So thanks to every one of you…

TranceAttack: Thank you for the interview and all the best for the future!
