It’s a tradition for Markus Schulz to release an annual compilation album inspired by and dedicated to one city. This year, he’s going global with a new album concept to not one but 12 cities.
Markus will record a new track every month on tour, live, at the gig in the city of its provenance. At the end of the year, all the recordings will come together on his new Markus Schulz – World Tour 2015 compilation.
The first track is named “Bayfront” and is dedicated to his home city “Miami”.
Markus about the track: “When examining the cities which have impacted my body of work throughout the years, you have to consider your day-to-day surroundings and the reason why you call a particular place home. After living in London for two years, I set up home in Miami for two reasons – the warm weather and the accessibility of travelling to and from Europe. However, had it not been for my days as a weekly resident at Club Space, I would never have had the privilege of playing to an international audience. It was a hugely important part of my DJ education, because the residency allowed me to perform alongside the big international DJs of that time. Now, when I come back as a headliner, it almost symbolises my own career growth within the one setting. When I learned that I would be welcoming 2015 at Space it was only appropriate to commence this project by paying tribute to my home turf.”
