Armin van Buuren released A State of Trance, Ibiza 2026 digitally through Armada Music on August 28th, 2026. The thirteenth installment in the Ibiza compilation series brings together 43 tracks across three mixes—Pulse, Frequency and Energy—moving from Balearic and progressive moods through emotional Trance to high-BPM dancefloor pressure.

Few compilation series are as closely connected to summer as Armin van Buuren’s A State of Trance Ibiza editions. Yet A State Of Trance, Ibiza 2026 is less interested in recreating a nostalgic Balearic postcard than in showing how broadly Trance can be interpreted on today’s dancefloors.
The thirteenth installment brings together 43 tracks across three continuous mixes—Pulse, Frequency and Energy. Rather than treating them as rigid genre categories, Armin uses the three titles to describe stages of one escalating night: atmosphere, emotion and release.
Pulse: A Controlled Balearic Build
Pulse is presented as the compilation’s melodic and Balearic opening chapter, although its first few minutes immediately challenge the idea of a purely relaxed start. Armin van Buuren and Adam Beyer’s “No Mercy” arrives in JDX’s Intro Edit with more force than a conventional sunset opener, establishing that the energy will build early.
“Here In My Arms (Enjoy The Silence),” ALLFREE’s “Lost Vagueness” and Protoculture’s “Frequent Flyers” then give the mix more room to breathe. Progressive rhythms and restrained melodies provide the foundation without reducing Pulse to background music.
The clearest connection to the Ibiza compilation tradition comes through Atlantis’ “Fiji” in Oliver Smith’s remix. Its familiar melody brings warmth and recognition without sounding detached from the contemporary productions around it. Heløwed’s “Let It All Blur” and Armin’s Andrew Bayer collaboration “Heaven” continue that melodic line before the mix begins to apply more pressure.
“Breathless,” “Starbound” and Peter Pahn’s melodic version of “Let You Down” carry Pulse towards its final phase. Goom Gum’s “March” provides a darker and more club-focused conclusion, preparing the handover to Frequency.
Pulse is the most patient of the three mixes and arguably the most balanced. Its Ibiza identity comes primarily through pacing, melody and atmosphere rather than an exclusively sun-drenched Balearic sound. That makes it an effective opening chapter, even if listeners expecting an extended beachside introduction may find it more direct than anticipated.
Frequency: The Emotional Core
Frequency comes closest to the traditional emotional identity of A State of Trance.
The Rising Star Intro Edit of “Everlasting” opens the mix with an unmistakable uplifting signal. Jon Mangan’s “Aether,” Mirage’s “Remember The Future,” Bart Claessen’s “Playmo” in Sneijder’s remix and Giuseppe Ottaviani and Ilan Bluestone’s “Together Again” develop this foundation through melodies that feel familiar without relying entirely on nostalgia.
The central sequence contains two of the compilation’s most explicit links to A State of Trance history. Dan Harrison reworks the ASOT 800 anthem “I Live For That Energy,” while Talla 2XLC brings “Shivers” into a contemporary main-floor setting. Both remixes preserve the identities of the originals while giving them enough additional weight for the current generation of faster Trance sets.
Richard Durand and RinatNevo’s “Goodbye My Love” provides one of Frequency’s strongest emotional moments. From there, the mix gradually widens its scope. Space 92’s version of “Domino,” Matt Fax and ØRĀ’s “Tell Me,” “ResuRection” and “Moonfire” move the compilation towards the meeting point between Trance, melodic techno and peak-time club music.
Key4050 and Bo Bruce’s “Empty Space” is an important closing choice. After several compact mixed edits, its extended presence gives the final section enough room to resolve rather than simply stopping at the highest point of intensity.
Frequency is the strongest of the three mixes. It combines emotional songwriting, recognizable Trance history and current production styles without allowing any single element to dominate the full sequence. The stylistic turn in its second half is noticeable, but the closing track brings the journey back to an emotional conclusion.
Energy: No Brakes
Energy makes its intentions clear from the beginning.
Armin van Buuren, Hannah Laing and Wippenberg’s “U Got 2 Know” transforms a familiar idea into the starting point for a harder and faster final chapter. “Special Touch,” “Vibe Regulator,” “2 The Beat,” “Bringing It Back” and “Free Mind” establish a rapid sequence built around rave influences, harder kicks and short, functional arrangements.
Unlike Pulse, Energy rarely pauses to create space. Tracks arrive quickly, make their point and move aside for the next impact. That approach captures the restless pace of current high-BPM club music, although it also means that individual records sometimes have limited time to develop.
The mix gains additional depth through two major references to Trance history. SUPERSTRINGS’ Emotional Rollercoaster Remix of “Solarcoaster” turns the Solarstone classic into a modern high-energy anthem, while Bouras’ version of GAIA’s “Status Excessu D” reconnects the compilation with one of the defining moments from A State of Trance’s past.
“Satellite,” “Rock That Body” and “Midnight Euphoria” maintain the pressure before Armin van Buuren and Mary Jensen’s “Go All Night” introduces a welcome vocal counterweight. MaRLo’s “The Magic” then delivers the final peak.
Energy has the clearest identity of the three mixes, but it is also the least nuanced. Its sustained intensity and succession of compact edits make it highly effective as a snapshot of the harder side of the 2026 scene. As a continuous journey, however, it occasionally feels closer to a rapid-fire showcase than a mix that allows every peak to earn its full impact.
Three Mixes, One Journey?
The central question surrounding A State Of Trance, Ibiza 2026 was whether Pulse, Frequency and Energy would form one coherent progression or simply function as three separate playlists.
The answer is mostly convincing.
Pulse creates space, Frequency supplies the emotional centre and Energy releases the remaining pressure. The increase in intensity is easy to follow, but the mixes are not isolated by strict genre boundaries. Progressive records can carry considerable weight, while uplifting melodies and references to classic Trance continue deep into the harder sections.
This flexibility is one of the compilation’s main strengths. Armin does not present melodic house, progressive Trance, uplifting, techno and hard Trance as competing scenes. Instead, they become different stages of the same club-focused narrative.
The concept is not flawless. At times, recognizable titles and the desire to document the full 2026 spectrum appear to take priority over deeper long-form immersion. The Ibiza theme can also feel more like a framework for the progression from sunset to peak time than a dominant musical identity.
Nevertheless, the three-part structure prevents the broad selection from becoming arbitrary. Frequency is the heart, Pulse provides the most controlled pacing and Energy captures the uncompromising direction in which a significant part of the modern scene is moving.
TranceAttack Verdict
A State Of Trance, Ibiza 2026 succeeds because it treats Trance history as active material rather than a museum collection.
“Fiji,” “Playmo,” “Shivers,” “Domino,” “Solarcoaster” and “Status Excessu D” are not included in their original forms simply to generate recognition. They are reframed by Oliver Smith, Sneijder, Talla 2XLC, Space 92, SUPERSTRINGS and Bouras to reflect how contemporary dancefloors have changed.
Around them, new collaborations and less established names give the compilation the necessary sense of discovery. The result is both a recognizable A State of Trance release and an unusually broad snapshot of where the brand stands in 2026.
Frequency offers the most complete journey, Pulse the greatest balance and Energy the most immediate impact. The final mix could use more breathing room, and the connection to Ibiza occasionally remains conceptual rather than musical. Even so, the full progression is coherent enough to feel like one night rather than three disconnected selections.
