Apple surprises and seems to act as game changer again with one of the biggest power moves in music streaming business. In an announced deal between niche legal DJ mix site Dubset and Apple’s Music streaming service Apple Music, Deejays will be able to upload their work legally and make it available worldwide to the service’s 11 million and growing subscribers.

Dubset uses a special technology called Mixbank to make this work within legal limits. MixBank can analyze a remix or DJ mix and identify the original recordings within the file, and pay the rights holders and publishers. It also gives the rights holders the ability to blacklist songs or set limits on how much of a song can be used in a mix. For many music producers and deejays the only streaming network was SoundCloud.

SoundCloud has been trying the same, but it seems too late now for the beleaguered streaming pioneer. Not the best situation for soundcloud and another reason to leave. Especially since Deejays have become increasingly frustrated at having their mixes, mashups and remixes removed from SoundCloud.

Do you agree? Bye Bye SoundCloud, Welcome Apple Music!
