Colorize’s flagship compilation returns with two distinct perspectives on the label’s progressive sound. Across two individually curated editions, Estiva pushes Colorscapes Volume Eight towards the club with a selection of new, exclusive and unreleased material, while PRAANA approaches the series from a more cinematic and reflective direction. Together, the two mixes make Volume Eight feel less like a conventional label sampler and more like a snapshot of how broad the modern Colorize identity has become.
Colorize officially presents Volume Eight as two individually mixed editions, released one week apart: Estiva’s part on September 18 and PRAANA’s on September 25. The label explicitly frames them as separate artistic perspectives under the same Colorscapes banner.
Two mixes, one Colorize identity
The strongest idea behind Volume Eight is also its simplest: Estiva and PRAANA do not need to sound alike.
Estiva has been closely connected with Colorize for years and previously contributed to Colorscapes Volumes Five, Six and Seven. For Volume Eight, Colorize specifically describes his selection as a blend of recent highlights, new and exclusive material and unreleased IDs. PRAANA, meanwhile, is positioned by the label around a more cinematic identity, with support spanning Above & Beyond, Black Coffee, Lane 8 and Sultan + Shepard.
That contrast gives the compilation its personality. Rather than splitting forty tracks between two interchangeable progressive-house sets, Volume Eight uses its curators to show two different ways into essentially the same musical world.
Estiva: Colorize after dark
Estiva’s 20-track running order makes the more club-oriented intent immediately visible.
He starts with Trilucid’s “One Day At A Time (Tim Green Remix)”, before moving through Guy Didden, Avenue One, Kostya Outta and Emi Galvan. From there the mix brings in Anriu & GAALIA, Heard Right & Anfulage, Estiva’s own “Noo Tacchi”, Jerome Isma-Ae’s remix of Boxer’s “Verde” and Makebo’s “Your Voice.”
What makes the second half particularly interesting from a TranceAttack perspective is the concentration of more direct club material. Estiva & Avenue One – “The Rain,” Pete K – “Reverie,” L.GU. – “Only Ever,” Hessian & Courtney Storm – “Heartbeat (Estiva Remix)” and “Désir (Estiva Club Mix)” sit close together in the closing stretch.
The Estiva remix of “Heartbeat” is a useful reference point for the character of this part of the compilation. The extended version is classified as Progressive House at 122 BPM, while Colorize describes the remix as translating the energy of Estiva’s live sets into the original.
That is essentially where Estiva’s half earns its place in a TranceAttack feature. It stays rooted in modern progressive house, but there is enough drive, melodic tension and trance-facing club energy to make the crossover feel natural rather than forced.
Estiva highlights to watch
For further TranceAttack coverage, the most interesting names remain “The Rain,” “Reverie” and “Désir (Estiva Club Mix).” They sit right in the area where Colorize’s progressive identity overlaps with the contemporary progressive-Trance audience.
There is also a genuine discovery aspect here. Colorize explicitly says Estiva’s mix contains exclusive material and unreleased IDs, meaning Volume Eight functions partly as a preview of the label’s next release cycle rather than only a retrospective compilation.
Estiva assessment: the more immediate and club-focused half of Volume Eight, and the side with the stronger release-scout value for TranceAttack.
PRAANA: the cinematic counterweight
PRAANA’s role is different.
The opening alone sets up that contrast. The edition begins with “The Unfurling (And Now, Yoga)” and “Fernwake,” before moving through material including mölly’s “for a fire,” the Fejká remix of “Breathe In” and “There Will Be An After.”
Two of those tracks provide a particularly clear guide to the intended atmosphere.
“Fernwake” comes from PRAANA’s Insight Out era and sits at 120 BPM as Progressive House. The wider album was presented as an immersive record centred around reflection, connection and emotional growth, with atmospheric textures and understated rhythms playing a central role.
The newly released Fejká remix of “Breathe In” pushes that aesthetic even further. Colorize describes Fejká’s rework as cinematic, dreamlike, luminous and ethereal; Beatport lists the extended version at 123 BPM.
Even the original “Breathe In” was built around airy synth pads, melodic writing and Kuala’s vocals rather than peak-time aggression.
That gives PRAANA’s side a different function inside Volume Eight. Where Estiva makes the case for Colorize as a club label, PRAANA makes the case for Colorize as a listening world — progressive music built around atmosphere, texture and emotional continuity.
For a TranceAttack audience, this is probably the less immediate half, but arguably the one that gives the complete compilation more depth. Without PRAANA, Volume Eight could easily become a very polished collection of contemporary progressive club music. His contribution broadens the emotional bandwidth.
PRAANA highlights to watch
“There Will Be An After” remains particularly interesting because it surfaced in the mix without the same clear standalone-release footprint as several of the surrounding tracks during our release check.
The Fejká treatment of “Breathe In” is also an obvious standout from a different angle: it is not a Trance record, but its spacious melodic writing and cinematic character make it a strong example of why the Colorize universe continues to overlap with the deeper end of Trance listening.
PRAANA assessment: less peak-time and less obviously TranceAttack-facing than Estiva, but essential to the concept because it gives Volume Eight its deeper and more introspective dimension.
Why Colorscapes Volume Eight works as a complete compilation
The success of Volume Eight is not dependent on deciding which of its two mixes is “better.”
They solve different problems.
Estiva supplies momentum, club energy and discovery.
PRAANA supplies space, atmosphere and emotional continuity.
And the Colorize identity sits somewhere between those poles.
That makes this dual-format approach more interesting than simply handing two DJs twenty tracks each. The contrast becomes the compilation’s organising principle.
It also explains why “Two Sides of Colorize” works so well as the editorial hook for the feature: the story is not just that PRAANA and Estiva mixed a compilation. The story is that Colorize deliberately uses them to demonstrate the range of its current sound.
TranceAttack verdict
Colorscapes Volume Eight succeeds because it does not try to turn PRAANA and Estiva into the same kind of curator.
Estiva delivers the more immediate side: polished, club-focused progressive music with a number of tracks that should remain firmly on the TranceAttack release radar. PRAANA widens the frame with a more cinematic selection that slows the pulse without reducing the emotional impact.
For Trance purists, neither mix is designed as a traditional Trance compilation. But for anyone following the space where progressive house, melodic electronic music and modern progressive Trance increasingly intersect, Volume Eight is a particularly useful snapshot of the scene in 2026.
It is also one of those compilations where the contrast between the two mixes becomes more interesting than either tracklist in isolation.
