Originally released by Cygnus X on Eye Q Records in 1993, “Superstring” emerged from the formative German Trance scene around producers Matthias Hoffmann and Ralf Hildenbeutel. Seven years later, Rank 1 – Benno de Goeij and Piet Bervoets – reshaped its hypnotic core for the peak of the Dutch Trance era, combining a driving rhythm section, expansive synth layers and the instantly recognisable central melody. The remix became the anthem of the inaugural Sensation in 2000 and climbed to No. 3 in the Dutch Top 40, while a later UK reissue of “Superstring” reached No. 33 in 2001. More than two decades later, the Rank 1 Remix remains one of the clearest bridges between early European Trance and the widescreen, euphoric sound that defined the genre around the millennium.
