Released in 1995 on Dance Pool, DJ Taucher’s “Infinity” reimagined Guru Josh’s 1989 rave anthem through the emerging sound of German Trance. Produced alongside Torsten Stenzel, the track combined the familiar musical identity of the original with a more driving, club-oriented approach. The record bridges the energy of early rave and Techno with the hypnotic structures of developing Trance music.
Its three original versions, titled Phase I, Phase II and Phase III, demonstrate the era’s emphasis on alternative arrangements and DJ-oriented releases. Although its chart success was modest compared with the original, Taucher’s interpretation remains an interesting example of how familiar dance melodies were reworked for Germany’s evolving Trance scene.
IIt reached No. 50 in Germany and No. 45 in Switzerland. More than three decades later, “Infinity” offers a fascinating glimpse into the formative years of Trance, before the genre’s late-1990s commercial breakthrough.
