For 2026, BLR takes on the challenge of remixing one of GAIA’s defining anthems, bringing “Tuvan” into a modern club framework without stripping away its soul. The remix was officially featured as part of “A State of Trance 2026”, where Armin van Buuren highlighted it among the key tracks of Mix 1, “Pulse.” The standalone release followed via Armind (Armada) on May 15, 2026, with Beatport listing the release under Armind / Armada.
BLR — the alias of Dutch producer Leon Bolier — is a fitting name for this reconstruction. Under BLR, Bolier has explored a deeper, darker and melodic club-focused sound, blending melodic techno, house and trance influences into dancefloor-ready productions. That exact signature is what makes this remix work: it does not try to outshine the original’s trance legacy, but instead tightens its pulse, lowers the lights and places the iconic atmosphere into a more contemporary, rolling 132 BPM setting.
The result is a remix that respects the sacred character of “Tuvan” while giving it fresh movement. BLR keeps the hypnotic essence intact — the haunting vocal textures, the mystical aura, the sense of wide-open space — but surrounds it with a more restrained, progressive drive. The kick and bassline feel cleaner and more current, the groove is less euphoric in the traditional uplifting sense, and the tension builds with patience rather than obvious hands-in-the-air shortcuts.
That balance is the remix’s biggest strength. “Tuvan” has always carried something ceremonial, almost otherworldly. BLR understands that the magic lies in the atmosphere, not only in the drop. His version lets the original motif breathe, then slowly pulls it toward a darker club floor where trance emotion and modern melodic pressure meet.
GAIA itself remains one of the most beloved aliases in trance history. What began as Armin van Buuren’s project became a creative partnership with Benno de Goeij, the legendary producer also known from Rank 1. Armada Music Publishing describes Armin and Benno as a two-man front line who have been recording and producing since the ’90s, with Benno behind classics such as “Airwave” and “Such Is Life” as part of Rank 1. Through GAIA, both artists created a more mystical and purist outlet for trance — less about radio hooks, more about atmosphere, melody and timeless club energy.
With his remix of “Tuvan,” BLR does exactly what a strong modern reinterpretation should do: he opens the door for a new generation without closing the one to the past. It is respectful, mature and highly effective — a remix that will feel just as natural in a progressive-trance set as it does in the wider ASOT universe.
