Key4050 return to their darker, harder-edged roots with “Final Memory”, a relentless 138 BPM Main Floor Trance weapon that combines galloping percussion, heavyweight bass, haunting vocal fragments and an increasingly euphoric melodic payoff. Released through Black Hole Recordings on September 18, 2026, it is the second single from John O’Callaghan and Bryan Kearney’s forthcoming Key4050 album Stay In Your Lane.
Key4050 turn the pressure back up
There has always been something distinctive about Key4050 when John O’Callaghan and Bryan Kearney lean fully into the project’s darker side.
“Final Memory” does exactly that.
A driving bassline and galloping percussion establish the track’s momentum almost immediately, giving the production the physical weight expected from both artists without allowing it to become a straightforward Tech Trance exercise.
Instead, the track gradually opens up.
Harmonic layers begin pushing against the relentless rhythm section, introducing an increasingly euphoric undertone while preserving the tension underneath. The result is classic Key4050 territory: tough enough for the peak of a set, melodic enough to make the release feel much bigger than a functional club tool.
A vocal hook without becoming a vocal track
One of the smartest elements is also one of the simplest.
Rather than building “Final Memory” around a conventional vocal performance, Key4050 use the short female phrase “I can’t help it” almost like another instrument. It lingers through the arrangement, adds a slightly mysterious atmosphere and gives the record an instantly recognisable identity without slowing its momentum.
That restraint matters.
The vocal creates emotional tension, but the production remains firmly in control. When the melodic progression expands and the saw-driven lead finally takes over, the payoff feels less like a traditional uplifting-Trance breakdown and more like accumulated pressure finally being released.
The official release description similarly identifies the galloping drums, powerful bass, harmonic progression, vocal fragment and saw-tooth synth as the record’s defining components.
The next chapter after “Tales From The Temple”
“Final Memory” also carries more weight than an isolated single.
John O’Callaghan and Bryan Kearney first began releasing music together long before Key4050 formally emerged in 2015. Their collaborative project reached a major milestone with 2019’s 30-track Tales From The Temple, an album rooted in their shared Dublin club history.
Seven years later, a new Key4050 chapter is now taking shape.
The duo formally signalled their return during the summer after closing Luminosity Beach Festival, with new album material already well underway. August’s “Empty Space” with Bo Bruce opened that campaign; “Final Memory” now follows as the second preview of the forthcoming Stay In Your Lane album.
And the contrast between those first two singles is promising.
Where “Empty Space” placed songwriting, vocals and emotional uplift at the centre, “Final Memory” shows that the new album will also retain the tougher, darker and more uncompromising side of Key4050.
TranceAttack verdict
“Final Memory” sounds unmistakably like Key4050.
There is no attempt to soften the formula or chase a broader crossover sound. John O’Callaghan and Bryan Kearney build the track around pressure, movement and tension, then allow just enough melody and vocal atmosphere into the arrangement to transform that raw club energy into something genuinely euphoric.
It may not have the immediate emotional pull of “Empty Space”, but that is also not what it is trying to achieve.
This is Key4050 in full peak-time mode: powerful, dark around the edges and designed to make its biggest impression when the room is already at maximum intensity.
