One year ago, the living legend himself Markus Schulz released ‘Scream’, an album that smashed borders and forever solidified his irrefutable spot within the world of EDM. Earning the respect of his peers and enormous fan-base alike, ‘Scream’ showed the commitment this man has to leading the way in the genre he helped found, and deservedly brought home critical acclaim.

Never one to rest on his laurels and let the future come to him, Schulz set about the arduous task of compiling a whopping 17 track album with ‘Scream 2’, an undeniable opus from the well-established DJ and production mastermind.

Featuring a wide array of influences and collaborations, ‘Scream 2’ is as much a throwback to the powerful sound that catapulted Schulz to stardom in the early 00’s as it is a challenge to today’s top producers. This album is such a tremendous sonic achievement, that it will surely stand the test of time well into the future, reminding people years down the road of what commitment to quality sounds and feels like.

With ‘Scream 2’ Markus continues at the he stopped last year with ‘Scream’. Focusing on trance melodies Marcus adds energetic, thumping beats and sounds to nearly track. You can hear that every track is produced for the club. But there is something special! Markus has created a bridge between the club and the music player at your home, your car or where ever you listen the album. With a great balance of instrumentals like “Destino”, “Remember This”, “Mango” or “In The Shadows” and vocal tracks like “Muse”, “Fireworks” or “Revolution”, ‘Scream 2’ has the perfect variety for the listening pleasure beside the club. Already the promo file was in a heavy rotation on my mp3 player for days. One of the biggest challenge for each EDM album and of course each TRANCE album has been solved by Marcus – ‘Scream 2’ is suitable for clubs and also for the home listeners.

Indeed, over half of this album would be right at home on mainstream radio, while staying credible enough to please even the most hard-hearted of EDM fans.

My personal highlights just to name a view:
“Remember This”… What should I write about the track? The most sought after ID in 2013, “Remember This” was the perfect appetizer for the “Scream 2” album announcement. With this goose bumping, magic melody embedded in this taunting baseline, “Remember This” was already one of our highlights in 2013! Absolutely magic and even energetic!

“Muse” already got me when I heard it the first time. The vocals are going directly in your mind and stay there for long time – the wonderful voice of Adina Butar enhances this effect additional. Markus builds the perfect framework for Adina’s voice and the full track is one harmonic arrangement. There are not much vocal trance tracks who have this unique quality and “Muse” plays for me in one league with “silence”, “sound of goodbye” and “as the rush comes”!

“Fireworks” is another huge vocal track which made Markus together with Klaus Goulart! As one of the less male vocal tracks in the trance scene (and the only on the album) it comes with the great voice of Paul Aiden. Starting melancholically slow with a piano and Paul Aiden’s Voice it’s building up fast without losing the melancholic atmosphere. The voice of Paul Aiden gives the track a unique character which is outstanding to many other vocal tracks – perfectly set in scene by Markus Schulz & Klaus Goulart!

‘Scream 2’ is out on the 21 of February 2014!
