BLR brings Mr Sam’s 2005 Trance classic “Lyteo” into 2026 with a driving 133 BPM rework that preserves its unmistakable melody and unusual vocal character while rebuilding the record for contemporary main-floor sets. Released through Black Hole Recordings on August 14th, the remix connects Leon Bolier’s own Trance history with the cleaner, harder-edged production identity of his BLR project.
A 2005 Trance Classic Returns With The Right Remixer
“Lyteo” already carries considerable Trance history.
Mr Sam originally released the record in 2005, with the Rank 1 Remix becoming one of its defining interpretations. More than two decades later, BLR approaches the track from an unusually personal position: Leon Bolier had been playing “Lyteo” himself for years and specifically connected with its melody, short vocal sample and slightly unconventional character.
That makes the 2026 remix feel less like another catalogue update and more like the continuation of a relationship with the original.
Rather than replacing the elements that made “Lyteo” recognisable, BLR keeps them at the centre and rebuilds their surroundings.
BLR Gives “Lyteo” A Modern 133 BPM Framework
At 133 BPM, the remix lands firmly in contemporary Main-Floor Trance territory without pushing toward the faster end of the genre. The pace gives the familiar melodic material room to breathe while providing enough rhythmic weight to work in modern club sets.
The defining “Lyteo” melody remains the emotional anchor. Its distinctive vocal fragment also survives, preserving some of the strange, hypnotic personality that separated the original from more conventional melodic Trance records.
Around those elements, BLR tightens the groove and updates the production rather than rewriting the composition. Black Hole describes the approach as deliberately maintaining the record’s unusual character while giving its familiar elements more impact in a modern set.
That restraint is one of the remix’s most important qualities. There is nostalgia here, but nostalgia is not the arrangement.
Leon Bolier Connects His Trance Past With BLR
BLR is particularly well suited to a record like “Lyteo”.
Leon Bolier belongs to the generation closely connected with the sound and culture surrounding the original release, yet the BLR project gives him a distinctly contemporary production identity. The combination allows the remix to move between two eras without sounding forced.
It follows a direction already heard when BLR joined Markus Schulz for the 2025 reimagining of “Ten Seconds Before Sunrise”: established Trance material is treated as something capable of evolving rather than something that needs to be preserved behind glass.
With “Lyteo”, that philosophy works particularly well because Bolier does not need to manufacture a connection with the original. He already had one.
TranceAttack Verdict
Remixing a recognised Trance record more than twenty years after its original release always creates a difficult balance. Change too little and the result becomes unnecessary. Change too much and the identity that justified bringing the track back disappears.
BLR finds a convincing middle ground.
The 2026 version keeps the melody, vocal fragment and slightly unconventional atmosphere that gave “Lyteo” its personality, but places them inside a tighter and more contemporary 133 BPM production.
Most importantly, the remix feels connected to the history it is revisiting. Leon Bolier is not approaching “Lyteo” as an unfamiliar classic. His long-standing relationship with the track gives the update credibility, while the BLR production identity gives it a reason to exist in current sets.
It is not a radical reinvention—and it does not need to be. “Lyteo (BLR Remix)” succeeds by making a 2005 Trance record feel playable in 2026 without pretending that its past never happened.
