A Trance classic rebuilt for a new main floor
There are easier records to revisit than “Strange World”.
Originally released under Mike Dierickx’s Push alias at the turn of the millennium, its famous 2000 Remake became one of the signature productions of the classic Trance era. The melody is instantly identifiable, the atmosphere unmistakably Push and the emotional progression so deeply embedded in the genre’s history that changing too much would defeat the purpose of returning to it.
KAS:ST understands that.
Instead of attempting to replace the original idea, the new version changes the world around it. The familiar melodic theme remains the emotional centre, but it now operates inside a considerably more forceful 140 BPM framework built for contemporary club and festival systems.
The result feels less like nostalgia and more like translation.

Mike Dierickx provides the melodic language and emotional architecture that made “Strange World” endure for more than two decades. KAS:ST brings a different kind of intensity: darker textures, greater rhythmic weight and the techno-informed sense of scale that has become increasingly important to modern Main-Floor Trance.
That contrast gives the record its identity.
The melodic material never needs to fight the production for attention. Instead, the increased pressure underneath it makes the classic hook feel larger when it arrives. The modernized framework gives the track more immediate physical impact while allowing its central emotional idea to remain unmistakably Push.
A new counter-melody adds another layer to the arrangement, while the breakdown becomes the crucial meeting point between past and present: expansive enough to let the original atmosphere breathe, but constructed around a much more contemporary return to the dance floor.
More than twenty-five years of “Strange World”
The historical significance of the track should not be underestimated.
“Strange World” became one of Push’s biggest records outside the underground Trance circuit, reaching number 21 on the UK Singles Chart in 2001 while climbing to number three on the UK Dance Singles Chart.
More importantly, it never disappeared from Trance culture.
Different generations have continued to remix, rework and rediscover the track, but the central melody has remained strong enough to survive every change in production fashion around it.
The KAS:ST collaboration continues that lineage rather than attempting to overwrite it.
Its relevance was already evident months before release. Armin van Buuren played the production repeatedly on A State Of Trance in May 2026, allowing the new version to establish itself in current sets long before its official September arrival.

Reworking a classic such as “Strange World” only makes sense when the new version has a reason to exist.
Push and KAS:ST provide one.
This is not an attempt to improve a record that does not need improving. It is a convincing demonstration of how one of classic Trance’s most recognizable melodies can function on a 2026 dance floor without losing the atmosphere that gave it its identity in the first place.
KAS:ST adds weight, tension and contemporary club scale; Push provides the melodic foundation and history. Neither side overwhelms the other.
Purists may still prefer the longer, more patient journey of the 2000 Remake—and understandably so. But judged as a modern reinterpretation rather than a replacement, “Strange World” gets the balance remarkably right.
