Roger Shah’s “Magic Island – Music For Balearic People Vol. 13” is a 39-track, two-disc compilation released via Black Hole Recordings on June 26th, 2026. Moving from Balearic and progressive daytime sounds into vocal-led uplifting trance, the new edition marks the return of Shah’s long-running summer series after a three-year break.
One of Magic Island Vol. 13’s defining elements is the expanded role of Noah Shah, who contributes several tracks and helped curate the opening mix. The result is a compilation that preserves the familiar Magic Island atmosphere while introducing a newer generation of artists and ideas.
A New Generation on Magic Island
One of the most notable elements of Volume 13 is the increased involvement of Roger Shah’s son, Noah Shah. Beyond contributing several productions himself, Noah also took on an A&R role for the first mix, helping to discover new artists and shape the compilation’s opening, more progressive direction.
That generational connection gives the compilation an appealing freshness. Noah Shah appears with solo material including “By My Side” and “Your Call”, while his project with NØSH, “Feel Alright”, adds a more immediate club-focused edge to the opening mix.
At the same time, Roger Shah has reunited much of the wider Magic Island family. Familiar names such as Pierre Pienaar, Rafael Osmo, Yelow, Ditoma, Clarks, Aytaro, Spy and Roger’s beloved Sunlounger alias all contribute to the compilation, creating a broad yet coherent musical world.
Disc One: From Daybreak to Golden Hour
The first mix opens with a patient, sunlit flow. Tracks such as Clarks’ “Vanuatu”, Rafael Osmo’s “Over Time You Have Become” and Amir Telem’s “Your Heart Knows” establish the compilation’s early atmosphere: melodic, reflective and never in a rush.
This is where Magic Island Vol. 13 feels closest to its Balearic roots. Rather than chasing instant peak-time impact, the mix lets its tracks breathe. SidekoDJ’s “I’m Lost in Love”, Ben Beckman’s “Lose Your Mind” and Andy Woldman’s “Save Me” create the kind of soundtrack that works equally well for a coastal drive, a late-afternoon poolside session or an open-air warm-up.
The middle of Disc One introduces more emotional depth. Sunlounger, MOKX, SaedYm and 88Birds bring the heartfelt “Less Hate More Love”, while Ditoma’s “Darkest Desires” and Icotenai Project’s “Destino” explore darker and more cinematic territory.
As the mix progresses, its club energy rises without losing its sense of space. Highlights including Katoff’s “Burning Shadows”, Andy Woldman’s “Beyond Your Smile”, Roger-M’s “Meant To Be” and TRIP RGAZZI’s “Leave It All Behind” make the first disc feel like a journey from sunrise into the final light of the day.
Disc Two: The Magic Island Night
If Disc One captures the warmth of the daytime, Disc Two is built for the point when the sun has gone down and the dancefloor starts to take over.
Roger Shah, Kristina Sky and Evan Henzi set the tone with “Memories Of Space”, a vocal-led opening that immediately gives the mix a more expansive and emotional character. Spy’s “Eikon” follows with a driving, crystalline trance sound, before Ambedoverse’s “Chasing Grays” receives the full Roger Shah Uplifting Mix treatment.
The second disc also features two key collaborations between Roger Shah and Yelow: “A Better Place” and “Serendipity”. Both tracks underline how naturally Shah still balances melody, sentiment and forward-moving trance energy.
Further on, Magic Island Vol. 13 reaches one of its most exciting combinations with “Enchanted Dreams”, where Roger Shah joins forces with FSOE favourites Omar Sherif and Philippe El Sisi. It is a collaboration that represents the album’s wider vision perfectly: classic uplifting trance credentials meeting the melodic warmth that has always defined the Magic Island sound.
The album closes with “Hear Me Calling”, another collaboration between Roger Shah, Kristina Sky and Evan Henzi. It brings the journey full circle, ending the compilation with the same vocal emotion and wide-screen atmosphere with which the second mix began.
TranceAttack Verdict: A Welcome Return to Magic Island
Magic Island Vol. 13 works best when it lets its contrasts breathe. Disc One takes its time, pairing Balearic warmth and progressive depth with the unhurried atmosphere that has always set this series apart. Disc Two raises the intensity with vocal moments, classic Roger Shah melody and properly uplifting trance energy.
Noah Shah’s expanded involvement gives the compilation a welcome sense of renewal, while the returning Magic Island family ensures that its identity remains intact. Rather than trying to compete with the most aggressive end of trance, Vol. 13 succeeds by staying true to its own world: emotional, melodic, sun-drenched and built for long journeys rather than quick peaks.
