One year after its first takeover of 528 Ibiza, Paul van Dyk’s SHINE returns on September 24 with ten hours of music, three stages and an expanded open-air-to-club concept that increasingly feels less like a conventional Ibiza club night and more like a boutique Trance festival.
There are nights that disappear into the crowded calendar of an Ibiza season — and there are those that become a meeting point for an entire community.
For Trance fans, SHINE Ibiza increasingly belongs to the second category.
On Thursday, September 24, Paul van Dyk’s event brand returns to 528 Ibiza in the Benimussa Hills for a one-day takeover running from 18:00 until 04:00.
And this time, SHINE is going bigger.
After bringing the concept to 528 for the first time last summer, the 2026 edition expands into a three-stage, ten-hour experience, moving from open-air sessions beneath the Balearic sky into the venue’s late-night spaces.
That development gives this year’s return a storyline beyond another date on Ibiza’s club calendar.
From Privilege to a new chapter at 528
SHINE Ibiza first appeared on the island in 2018, when Paul van Dyk and the new event concept established a Trance residency at Privilege’s Vista Club. Paul van Dyk and Aly & Fila were among its residents, while the wider programme brought together many of the major names in contemporary Trance.
A year later, SHINE moved to Eden in San Antonio, where the event developed into one of Ibiza’s regular homes for the genre.
The story changed again in 2025.
After SHINE’s planned Ibiza residency was curtailed, the brand regrouped around a special one-off event at 528 in September. It began outdoors before moving indoors for the later part of the night, turning the Benimussa Hills venue into a temporary home for Trance and Progressive during Ibiza Trance Event week.
That first experiment clearly left an impression.
Looking back on the 2025 event, Paul van Dyk described the location, crowd and atmosphere as something that reminded him of Ibiza’s core values of connection, freedom and love for the music.
For 2026, the concept has therefore not simply returned — it has expanded.
Why 528 fits the SHINE experience
There is another reason why the move to 528 feels particularly natural.
Hidden in the Benimussa Hills, 528 is shaped by its landscape, open to the sky and surrounded by nature. Its philosophy deliberately places music and human connection ahead of sheer scale or spectacle.
That gives the site a distinctly free-spirited character — one that feels closer to Ibiza’s original outdoor party culture than to the polished architecture of a conventional modern superclub.
Even the venue’s name reflects that philosophy. According to 528 itself, it is named after what it calls the “528Hz frequency of positivity”.
For SHINE, that setting matters.
The event begins beneath the Ibiza sky before gradually transforming as daylight fades. Warm evening light gives way to sunset, the atmosphere intensifies and the experience moves towards the venue’s indoor spaces.
With three stages and ten hours of music, SHINE consequently begins to feel less like a normal club night and more like a compact Trance festival — while retaining the intimacy and sense of community that has always been central to the brand.
A line-up built around different nuances of Trance
The artists remain a major part of that appeal — and for many travelling fans, they are reason enough to make the journey.
At the centre is naturally Paul van Dyk, whose relationship with SHINE stretches back to its beginning and who again leads the 2026 programme.
Alongside him, Aly & Fila bring the emotional and uplifting side of the genre that has made them one of SHINE’s most natural recurring partners.
Alex M.O.R.P.H. adds another link to the event’s history, while his melodic, high-energy approach sits naturally within the festival’s more euphoric side.
Then the intensity rises.
Bryan Kearney brings the harder and more driving end of modern Trance, while David Forbes adds another experienced voice from the tougher intersection between Trance and Techno.
Ciaran McAuley strengthens the melodic and uplifting dimension, while FUENKA and Anunnakis help broaden the musical spectrum of the day beyond a simple nostalgia-driven Trance line-up.
Together, the programme brings Paul van Dyk, Aly & Fila, Alex M.O.R.P.H., Bryan Kearney, Ciaran McAuley, David Forbes, FUENKA and Anunnakis together for the open-air part of the journey.
As darkness takes over, the musical direction continues to evolve.
One More Time joins the SHINE takeover with Seb Fontaine, Edele Andaya, Stephen Kirkwood and the Ibiza Trance Event DJs, expanding the programme into the venue’s late-night spaces.
The result is not simply a collection of recognisable names.
It is a programme designed to travel through different shades of Trance, Progressive and tougher electronic sounds — from melodic daylight moments to greater intensity deep into the night.
More than the artists on the poster
Yet SHINE has never been defined only by who stands behind the decks.
From its first Ibiza season, the concept placed unusual emphasis on the people in front of them.
When SHINE launched at Privilege in 2018, one of the ideas behind the event was to restore the human factor — DJs, guests and staff sharing the same experience, meeting old friends and making new ones around the music.
Eight years later, that remains perhaps its most recognisable characteristic.
There is something distinctive about a Trance dancefloor when melodies people have carried with them for years suddenly become collective experiences again.

Its return to 528 takes place during Ibiza Trance Event week, when dedicated Trance events once again bring artists and fans from around the world together on the island.
That wider context matters.
Trance may no longer dominate Ibiza’s weekly club programme in the way it once did, but concentrated events such as Ibiza Trance Event demonstrate that the relationship between the island and the genre is far from over.
Instead, it has changed shape.
Rather than occupying numerous weekly residencies, the community increasingly gathers around dedicated moments — events with enough identity to make travelling to Ibiza worthwhile in their own right.
SHINE at 528 is becoming one of those moments.
From daylight to the heart of the night
Ultimately, the attraction of SHINE Ibiza at 528 is difficult to reduce to a line-up poster.
It is the transition.
The sun is still above the Benimussa Hills when the first part of the journey begins.
Then comes golden hour.
Sunset.
Darkness.
The musical energy changes with it.
Familiar melodies meet harder moments. The open-air surroundings gradually give way to the intensity of the late-night spaces. Familiar faces appear across the dancefloor while strangers become part of the same experience.
It is exactly the kind of setting in which SHINE’s emphasis on community makes sense.
And after last year’s first experiment, the 2026 edition represents a clear next step: more space, three stages, a broader programme and a stronger festival identity.
SHINE is no longer simply testing a new Ibiza venue.
At 528, it is beginning to build a new chapter.
