Released in 1998, Signum – “What Ya Got 4 Me” captured a moment when Trance and the harder edge of UK club music were beginning to collide. Produced by Ronald Hagen and Pascal Minnaard, the track combines a driving rhythm section and euphoric synth work with its unmistakable vocal hook, derived from Mount Rushmore presents The Knack’s “You Better”. Its crossover appeal quickly translated beyond the clubs: the original reached No. 1 on the UK Dance Singles Chart, while a 2002 reissue climbed to No. 35 on the UK Singles Chart. Sitting somewhere between classic Trance, Hard Trance and late-’90s Hard House, “What Ya Got 4 Me” remains one of Signum’s defining records and a lasting snapshot of Trance’s formative golden era.
