Finnish duo Super8 & Tab and Australian DJ/producer Jaytech are joining forces for the upcoming 9-stop North American Code Red Tour, kicking off on February 13 at Bassmnt in San Diego before heading to Portland, Boston, Denver, Toronto, Hawaii, San Francisco and more. A good reason for us to talk with Miika and Janne about their music and plans for 2014.

TranceAttack: First of all congratulations for the 50th episode of Super8 & Tab Radio which ended in a huge celebration at Ministry of Sound in London in January 2014! What are your ideas for the next 50 episodes?
Super8 & Tab: We will continue playing the latest tunes from trance, house and techno. SuperTab Radio is a great platform us to play stuff we like and tracks you won’t hear us to play in clubs. Let’s see what kind of celebration we do when we have reached 100 episodes!

TranceAttack: What’s the story behind “Teardrops”? What is the reason that the track was releases on Enhanced and not on Anjunabeats?
Super8 & Tab: We have been with Anjunabeats from day one and we are big part of the Anjuna family but we are not signed exclusively to them. As Anjunabeats had a busy release schedule, we thought that we would release this track on our good friend Will Holland’s Enhanced label.Super8andTab02

TranceAttack: What can we except from Super8 & Tab in 2014?
Super8 & Tab: We have been busy in the studio last few months and working on new stuff so expect to have a lot new Super8 & Tab releases in 2014. Also, we are touring around the globe and we are just starting the Code Red Tour with Jaytech in North America. We have a great line up of cities and few places we haven’t been before so we are super excited to be on the road again and test some new tracks too!

TranceAttack: Your last album “Empire Remixed” is now 3 years old. Are there any plans about a new long player?
Super8 & Tab: Yes there is! Don’t know a release date but it’s ready when it’s ready 🙂

TranceAttack: Are there any plans about a new “Anjunabeats Worldwide” compilation mixed by Super8 & Tab?
Super8 & Tab: Not at the moment – that would be good tho!

TranceAttack: What are your plans for your “Empire” parties in Helsinki? Is there something already in preparation for 2014?
Super8 & Tab: We have been so busy in the studio that we haven’t have time for doing club events in Helsinki but we have some plans for the summer!

TranceAttack: You are actually starting the “Code Red” Tour in the U.S.A. together with Jaytech? What’s the idea behind “Code Red” and which Significance of the continent on the other side of the ocean for you?
Super8 & Tab: Code Red is actually the title of our new collab track we did with Jaytech. We have some plans to take the Code Red tour to other countries too but we thought it would be great to start in North America.

TranceAttack: In nearly every radio show there is a section “classic track”, e.g. Flashback in #ABGT, “Classic of the Week” in #GDJB or the ASOT Radio Classic. Which classic track has not to be miss in your sets if you had to choose one track?
Super8 & Tab: ‘Perception’ has been our favourite since 1997 when we first heard it! Check out the original by Cass & Slide!

TranceAttack: You look back on more than 10 years long career as DJs and Producers. What is your opinion the changes in the “trance” scene in this time?
Super8 & Tab: Trance has always taking influences from other genres and that will happening in the future too. We know that some people think that 138bpm is the only ‘real’ trance but when you check that Cass & Slide Perception track from ’97, it’s actually 132bpm and close to how it is these days. Change is good in electronic dance music as it keeps it interesting and that’s something that you should not be afraid of – enjoy the music!

TranceAttack: Thanks for the interview and we wish you all the best for the future!
