Tai Woffinden and SUPERSTRINGS turn speedway adrenaline into Balearic main-floor Trance on “Latitude 38.9”, a fast but warmly melodic 145 BPM collaboration released through Armada Music on October 2, 2026. Named after Cap Negret in Ibiza, the track brings together Woffinden’s world of speed with SUPERSTRINGS’ increasingly distinctive revival of turn-of-the-millennium Trance.

Speedway adrenaline meets Balearic freedom

The story behind “Latitude 38.9” is unusually literal. According to Armada’s release campaign, a shared fascination with speed brought Woffinden and SUPERSTRINGS together before a motorcycle ride was followed by a studio session. The resulting track takes its name from Cap Negret in Ibiza, a place associated by the artists with peace, freedom and inspiration.

That contrast is the key to the record’s identity. At 145 BPM, “Latitude 38.9” sits firmly in contemporary peak-time Trance territory, yet its Balearic concept deliberately pulls the emotional direction away from pure aggression. Speed provides the momentum; Ibiza provides the escape.

SUPERSTRINGS keep the golden era in sight

That combination feels particularly natural alongside SUPERSTRINGS. The five-member Dutch collective has built its identity around the emotional Trance of the late 1990s and early 2000s, reintroducing that sensibility without simply reproducing old records.

“Latitude 38.9” also arrives shortly after their own “Balearic Temptation”, another fast major-key Trance record carrying an unmistakably Mediterranean idea. The new collaboration therefore feels less like a stylistic detour and more like another chapter in the Balearic side of the SUPERSTRINGS sound.

The track had already found a natural setting before release. SUPERSTRINGS included it in their A State of Trance 1291 takeover in August, placing it among turn-of-the-millennium Trance references before closing their set with their remix of Solarstone’s “Solarcoaster”. It returned to A State of Trance on episode 1297 on October 1st.

More than a motorsport crossover

Woffinden’s presence should not be reduced to novelty value. The three-time individual Speedway World Champion announced his retirement from professional racing in July 2026, but music had already become an increasingly visible part of his output. His recent catalogue includes multiple Trance releases and collaborations, giving “Latitude 38.9” considerably more credibility than a one-off celebrity appearance would suggest.

That background makes the concept stronger: the sense of speed belongs to Woffinden, while SUPERSTRINGS provide the connection to classic emotional Trance.

TranceAttack verdict

“Latitude 38.9” succeeds because its unusual backstory translates into a coherent Trance identity. The speedway connection supplies the adrenaline, Cap Negret supplies the emotional destination, and SUPERSTRINGS connect both to their ongoing revival of turn-of-the-millennium Trance.

At 145 BPM it is unquestionably built to move, but the Balearic framing keeps the record from becoming just another high-speed peak-time weapon. It is another indication that SUPERSTRINGS can revisit the emotional language of Trance’s golden era without treating it as museum material — while Tai Woffinden increasingly looks less like a sporting name visiting electronic music and more like an artist establishing a genuine place within it.
