We had the chance to talk with MarLo about his music, his new mix-compilation “Visions” and many more! Enjoy reading! 😉

TranceAttack: First of all, congrats for the release of your mix-compilation “Visions″. What can the listener expect?
MarLo:
Thanks! You can expect the MaRLo sound, which is basically powerful techy driven beats, with plenty of epic hands in the air moments too.

TranceAttack: How did you work on this compilation? Had you a special idea in mind when you started with the work on it?
MarLo:
Yes, I really wanted to show off a bunch of relatively new and unknown producers to the world, and also wanted to support the fantastic Aussie talent that we have. I have also included 3 of my own exclusive tracks as well as a few of the biggest records from my live sets at the moment. Surfcomber2014Day2-1010

TranceAttack: How do you prepare yourself for mixing a compilation like this? What differences do you see in comparison for the preparation for a liveset?
MarLo:
I start by thinking of a concept, and then contact producers that are doing exciting stuff to see if they have any tracks they’d like to send me for consideration for the compilation.

TranceAttack: I know that it is always difficult, but please tell us which are your personal favorites from the compilation and why?
MarLo:
From the established artists I really like Cosmic Gate ft. Eric Luminere – Falling Back and also Dash Berlin & Jay Cosmic ft. Collin McLoughlin– Here Tonight, these tracks always go crazy in my live sets and add a big sing-along vibe to a set. From the new guys, I’m really impressed and love all their tracks… but I’m finding myself playing “Exis – The Ensemble” the most.

TranceAttack: The results of this years DJmagTop100 have caused again intensive discussions a huge shitstorm about genres, deejays and manipulations. What is your opinion about the poll?
MarLo:
I don’t worry or think too much what other people are doing and instead just focus on what I can do to improve. I would have loved to rank higher (I came 135), but am so thankful for everyone that showed support and voted and hope they will vote for me again next year :).

TranceAttack: You and Jano are one of the dream couples in the trance scene and even the music scene. Can you describe the work together with your wife in difference to other vocalists?10380759_10150451404774956_4145634397963726315_n
MarLo:
It’s awesome working with the person you love, she’s my best friend too… We already have a deep bond, so working on music together just further strengthens that.

TranceAttack: Are there any ideas for an artist album?
MarLo:
Not at this point.

TranceAttack: Which side do you prefer? Behind the decks in the clubs or behind your equipment in the studio?
MarLo:
I love spending countless hours in the studio refining my craft and having an outlet for my creativity, spending hours of work making a song and then taking that song into a club or festival and playing it to a crowd is just mind blowing. The two go hand in hand for me.

TranceAttack: What was the first record you ever bought? And what was your last?
MarLo:
First was – Nirvana – Nevermind, Last was – Lana Del Ray’s new one… but I don’t like it as much as her first one.

TranceAttack: Most of 2014 is over and you were quite active as deejay and producer. Are you satisfied with this year so far?
MarLo:
Yes! Absolutely! This year was absolutely insane, from playing events like Tomorrowland, ASOT, Ultra, Creamfields, Electronic Family, Beyond Wonderland and Stereosonic to selling out club shows across Australia too… the support this year has blown me away!

TranceAttack: Can you tell us what, what was your special moment of 2014?
MarLo:
The whole year was amazing really… I don’t think I can pinpoint just one moment.

TranceAttack: If you had to name 3 Tracks of 2014 as your top 3 tracks which ones would it be and why?
MarLo:
Alexander Popov – Quantum, Gaia – Empire Of Hearts, Dash Berlin & Jay Cosmic ft. Collin McLoughlin – Here Tonight.

TranceAttack: 2014 is nearly over, so far. What can we expect in 2015?
MarLo:
Lot’s of new tracks and remixes as well as a lot more international touring too.

TranceAttack: Thank you for the interview and all the best for the future!
