Originally released in 1997, Yves Deruyter’s “The Rebel” became one of the records that defined his international breakthrough and the harder edge of the late-1990s Belgian Trance sound. DJ Randy — later widely known as Randy Katana — pushed its instantly recognisable Public Enemy vocal sample and huge trance hook into an even more direct peak-time setting. Released during the wider 1997/98 campaign and documented on the German maxi in March 1998, the DJ Randy Remix remains a powerful snapshot of the classic Bonzai era: fast, uncompromising and built for the rave floor.
