After numerous successful club singles, Stoneface & Terminal deliver with “Be Different” their second album. We talked to Henry & Matthias about their new LP, the last years and of course their plans for the near future. Enjoy reading! 😉

TranceAttack: First of all, congrats for the release of your second artist album “Be Different”. What can the listener expect?
Stoneface & Terminal:
Thank You! The album shows the listeners how different and varying electronic dance music can be. It contains melodic elements, driving percussion sounds, vocal tracks, progressive stuff, chill out and much more…We’ve been working together with Ana Criado, Ellie Lawson, Amurai and Sean Ryan.

TranceAttack: Since the release of your first album “Wide Range” in 2007 seven years have passed. Why took it so long till you finished your second LP?
Stoneface & Terminal:
We weren’t sure about releasing a new artist album as the illegal downloads took overhand in our scene. It takes so much time to create an album, it costs money etc. and at the end, most of the people download it illegally. That’s disrespectful to our hard work and creativity. Well, at the end Euphonic came up talked to us in the right way.

TranceAttack: What’s the idea behind the album title “Be Different”?
Stoneface & Terminal:
The idea is to Be Different to all the EDM stuff that’s out there at the Moment. There’s so much more in electronic dance music than the same drops and sounds.

TranceAttack: I know that it is always difficult for a producer, but please tell us which one is your personal favorite from “Be Different” and why?
Matthias:
„Deepressure“ because of the driving percussion elements, and the amazing Break
Henry: „Alive“ because of the balearic feeling and the fat bassline.

TranceAttack: What are your plans next to your album release for the rest of 2014 and the future?
Stoneface & Terminal:
We are working on some Album Extended Mixes and we hope for some good Album Gigs around the globe.

TranceAttack: Last year you played with “Electronic Family” or “We Are One” at some big festivals in Europe. Are there already details for this summer?
Stoneface & Terminal:
In July we will be playing an Open Air Festival in Czech Republic and on a big Party in London but not the Big Festivals like last Year.

TranceAttack: Is there one tune you play again and again in your sets – an all time favorite?
Stoneface & Terminal:
Blueprint is one of the tracks we have to play in almost every set. But there are some other S&T tracks we play very often, like Skyfall, For You, Scuderia, Here Comes The Sun…

TranceAttack: What was the first record you ever bought? And what was your last?
Matthias:
The first: Moby – Go and the last one: London Grammar – Hey Now (Sasha Remix)
Henry: The first: Erasure – Wild, the last one: Moby – Almost Home

TranceAttack: Which side do you prefer? Behind the decks in the clubs or behind your equipment in the studio?
Stoneface & Terminal:
Hahah don’t forget, we are two and so it is easy to say. Matthias loves it more behind the Decks and Henry behind the equipment in the Studio.

TranceAttack: Is there an artist left you would like to remix?
Stoneface & Terminal:
Sasha or Eric Prydz

TranceAttack: The technical evolution of deejay equipment is really impressive. What is your prefered equipment you spin with? Do you prefer CD’s or USB Stick?
Stoneface & Terminal:
We prefer playing from CD’s. We started in the mid 90’s playing Vinyl and we had to change to CDs in 2008 / 2009 but we think we’ll never switch to USB. We need the feeling to work behind the decks, to look in the CD case for tracks and all this kind of feelings. With USB we think a lot of things that make a DJ to a DJ are gone.

TranceAttack: Can you still remember at the moment you have met the first time? Tell us something about this!
Stoneface & Terminal:
We know each other since 1984 as we were together in a class at school. In the beginning we just were two guys in one school class and in1993 we found out that we have a hand for music. That was the point we started a good friendship and later we founded a Music Company.

TranceAttack: What would surprise our readers? Tell us something uncommon about you?
Henry:
I’m going to be a father in August 😉

TranceAttack: Thanks for the interview and we wish you all the best for the future!
