Welcome back to Anjunabeats, Matan. Last seen on the label with his “No Words EP” in 2018, London-born producer Mat Zo has earned a reputation over his career as one of the most innovative minds in the electronic scene. Responsible for some timeless additions to the Anjunabeats discography – including his 2013 debut album “Damage Control”, and 2011’s collaboration with Arty “Rebound” – Mat has never been one to be pinned down by the arbitrary confines of genre. From his beginnings on Anjunabeats, he’s gone on to conquer the worlds of drum & bass, ambient, electro and beyond.
Matan explains: “There was a period in the mid 2000s when trance was starting to get really dark. For ‘The Next Chapter’ I wanted to rekindle that dark trance energy. I added the GQ sample (of him MCing at Westfest) because it reminded me of a drum and bass roller, but in trance form.”
